Jeremy Charles
St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador
While his expertise lies in food, Jeremy Charles’s influence goes far beyond the kitchen. An avid outdoorsman, he’s a key ambassador of the culture of Newfoundland and Labrador (his cookbook “Wildness” is even a 256-page tribute to the area) where he currently resides with his wife and children. For Jeremy, cooking is an opportunity to celebrate nature through indigenous ingredients, and his philosophy has earned him numerous accolades such as a spot on Maclean’s Power List, Canada’s 50 Most Powerful People, and Best Chef in Canada. As the former head chef and co-owner of Raymonds, he earned the title of Best Restaurant in Canada and is widely recognized as an esteemed guest on Anthony Bourdain’s series “Parts Unknown.” Before returning to St. John’s, Jeremy worked as a personal chef, frequenting Chicago’s Fulton fish market and continued to cut his teeth at some of the Windy City’s top tables.
