YETI Manufacturing FAQ

All YETI Products are tested for safety at accredited third-party labs

YETI drinkware products are crafted of premium 304 grade (aka Food Grade) stainless-steel which must contain 18% chromium and 8% nickel and is also known as 18/8 stainless steel. Our Magslider™ lids are made of BPA free polypropylene #5 and are made of Eastman Tritan™. Our products undergo routine testing and validation to meet and exceed established regulatory limits and neither are known to leach any harmful chemicals or present health risks. All our drinkware and products with food contact surfaces do not contain harmful chemicals such as bisphenols (BPA, BPS, etc.) or other endocrine disruptors (phthalates) ensuring there is no risk of reproductive or developmental toxicity.

All YETI products undergo rigorous testing under our Testing Program at accredited third-party labs to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations, including US-FDA standards (lead content), California Prop 65, EU REACH & SVHC and other international regulations. To achieve the highest levels of chemical safety, all YETI suppliers must also follow the strict requirements within YETI's RSL Program, which provides clear and concise guidance to enable responsible product development and chemical management within its supply chain. The RSL Program specifies the chemical restrictions applicable to substances used in manufacturing YETI components, products, and packaging.

All YETI Rambler® Drinkware Is Lead Safe

The strictest lead restriction applicable to YETI's stainless-steel Rambler® Drinkware is the Extractable (Leachable) 21 Elements that includes all heavy metals of concern along with lead for Metals and Alloys in Food Contact Material and Articles. To meet this requirement, YETI Rambler® Drinkware is again frequently tested at a 3rd party accredited lab by COE Resolution CM/RES(2013)9. When YETI Rambler® Drinkware is tested, lead is not detected. The limit of detection is <0.002 mg/kg (ppm).

YETI’s legendary thermal performance and durability utilizes vacuum insulation in YETI's double-wall stainless steel Rambler® Drinkware. To achieve this standard, a small sealing bead (pellet), or solder, is used. The sealing bead contains lead in its composition, but it is fully encapsulated and inaccessible. The use of lead in the composition of a sealing bead to achieve vacuum insulation in double-wall stainless steel drinkware is common practice in the industry. YETI takes product safety very seriously, especially as related to possible exposure to lead. For this reason, YETI’s Rambler® Drinkware is robustly designed to fully encapsulate the sealing bead to prevent any direct lead exposure. All of YETI’s products also undergo extensive testing to confirm the durability of the product and to ensure this encapsulation will last throughout the life of the product.
