HEROES MENDING ON THE FLY
Heroes Mending on the Fly (HMOTF) is an organization dedicated to improving the lives of disabled active and veteran Canadian Armed Forces personnel through the healing power of fishing.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Through fly-fishing, fly-tying, and fly-fishing associated education and outings, Heroes Mending on the Fly aids wounded, injured, or disabled military personnel in their physical and emotional recovery. HMOTF has locations across Canada that foster community building and life-changing discovery for our heroes.
WHY FLY FISHING
It’s well documented that Fly Fishing can help make significant strides in PTSD recovery. The simple, repetitive motions of casting help calm the mind and reduce the impact of intrusive memories. Exposure to the outdoors is also beneficial in reducing feelings of depression, and participating in the sport offers an opportunity to build community and connect with others.
OUR PARTNERSHIP
YETI is proud to support Heroes Mending On The Fly. We share the belief that time spent in the wild fosters connection, builds relationships, and has a positive impact on our physical and mental well being. With partner support, HMOTF is able to provide trips and educational programs at no cost to participants.
